24.07.08| LANDWEHR Trainees Win Computer Science Competition!!
For their outstanding achievements in a computer science competition arranged by the vocational schools, Jörg Deppe and Jenny-Nadine Stegink have been awarded a price. Both are currently undergoing their vocational training as future IT specialists (subject area: application development) at LANDWEHR.
It was the booster club of the ‘Kaufmännischen Berufsbildenden Schulen Nordhorn’ (KBS; Vocational Schools of Commerce, Nordhorn) that had arranged the sixth Computer Science Competition, which focused on how students imagine the use of computers for lessons in class and at home, today as well as in the future. Practicability, clarity and creativity formed the basis for evaluating the submissions to the competition. Jörg Deppe, who has already won this competition once before in 2007, came first, realising a management programme for the entire school.
It was with great dedication that Jörg Deppe, who once again came first this year, has realised a management program. With this product, teachers and students can submit notes internally, administer tasks and appointments or view timetables directly. The program is remarkable for its user-friendly set-up and appealing design. All specifications are stored in a database. The software was created in the programming language “Delphi”.
Jenny-Nadine Stegink came second together with a fellow student. In co-operation they have created a manual for beginners wishing to learn a programming language with the aid of the “Lego Mindstorm Robot”.
The successful participation was highly appreciated by Thorsten Temme (Head of Programming Department at LANDWEHR and in charge of the two trainees’ education) and Oliver Landwehr (Management). Both expressed their satisfaction about the trainees’ commitment to and motivation in developing their submissions in their spare time, proving how much they enjoy putting knowledge acquired in the company into practice. Both trainees have received a small credit from Oliver Landwehr for their tremendous achievements in the form of a gift coupon for technical literature.
