24.06.08| iGZ, the German Association of Temporary Employment Agencies, Celebrate their 10th Anniversary in Hamburg!

The iGZ celebrated their 10th anniversary with a federal congress on 3rd and 4th June. About 400 participants were welcomed in the Grand Elysee Hotel in Hamburg, among them the LANDWEHR-Team. IGZ, the largest association of temporary employment agencies regarding the number of members, offered a versatile program under the motto “iGZ makes temporary employment fairer”. In addition to various presentations, entertainment programmes in the evenings and the general meeting, an exhibition was arranged by the service providers of the industry. The LANDWEHR L1 team presented at their stand latest information about the approved software solution for the temporary employment sector. For the first time, also the Polish employees of LANDWEHR were at the premises. They had intensive conversations with many interested visitors being able to give first-hand information about the situation of the temporary employment sector in Poland.

From the elections of the general meeting some changes arose: iGZ Commissioner for Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania got more votes than the other candidates, Volker Homburg, former chairman, and Hans-Joachim-Scharmann, iGZ-Regional-Chairman NRW. Both the vice-chairman, Georg Sommer (Augsburg) and vice-chairwoman, Ariane Durian (Karlsruhe) were re-elected. Martin Gehrke (Duisburg), Dr. Ansgar Lauterbach (Berlin), Jürgen Nodop (Hamburg) were elected as assessors.

Labour Minister Olaf Scholz gave the official speech on 4th June making a clear statement: ”I am on the side of the temporary employment sector”. He advocated the implementation of collectively agreed minimum wages, specified for each industry.
According to his speech there are no more legal obstacles, the temporary employment industry could thus be included in the Posting of Workers Act, as it was concerted by the Federal Government some months ago. The employer’s associations iGZ and BZA as well as the trading unions of the DGB (German Trading Union Federation) had made the required applications.
”I am sure that reason will prevail with all parties in the end”, he signalled. As visual support, the iGZ Federal Chairman, Olaf Richter presented him with a symbolic signalling disc showing the inscription “Green light for the overdue minimum wages in the temporary employment sector.”

On the previous day iGZ had already celebrated their anniversary with an informal mix of talk and entertainment. The end of the two-day event was formed by a discussion of experts from economy, trading unions and science hosted by Werner Stolz, iGZ-Federal Managing Director. The issue was “Reasonable framework for a fair temporary employment”.

Interesting, specific discussions at the LANDWEHR stand.
